The R. Kirkham Safford papers, 1795-1919 (bulk 1914-1919).

Contains lineage record for Safford (1915); orders, rosters, invoices of 2nd Massachusetts Infantry (1914-16) and bulletins and newspapers from various U.S. military training camps (1915-19). Correspondence includes official letters (1919) and letters written to the Aero Club of America (1915-16) regarding military aviators. Also included are miscellaneous dinner programs. A photocopy of a certificate signed by George Washington appointing Solomon Porter to become Inspector of the Revenue of the Port of Hartford (1795) is found within the collection.
